West Chester Elementary News

By: Emily Brown

We had some special guests from Bright Star Theater come last week to perform for us! The actors in this theater group travel all around the United States to perform plays that specialize in literary, curriculum and character-education based performances. They came to West Chester to perform two classic stories, Jack and the Beanstalk and Cinderella. We appreciate the live professional performance that our students were able to enjoy! This performance was funded by a grant supplied by the Tennessee Arts Commission. We hope to have this theater group come back again!

Congratulations to these boys and girls for receiving rocking behavior awards last week: Makenah Carnell, Hayden Lazar, Lainey Smith, Carter Seaton, Derik Howell, Dharma Tidwell, Ethan Pickens, Naomi Carr, Ellie Fowler, Hayleigh Hammons, J Gilbert, Lexis Wolney, River Plunk, Bre Wells, Markivis Perry, and Cooper Heinsohn.  Rocking behavior in the cafeteria for last week includes these classes: Mrs. Amanda’s kindergarten class, Mrs. Susan’s first grade, Mrs. Heather’s second grade, and Mrs. Davidson’s third grade. Also, a big congratulations goes to Mrs. Heather Bates’ second grade class and Miss Rebecca Reddinger’s kindergarten class for having perfect attendance each day last week!

Our PTO spring fundraiser is now underway!  We will be selling yummy items from the Otis Spunkmeyer and More catalog.  On Friday, students enjoyed hearing about the fundraiser, as well as all the great prizes they could possibly win.  They are super excited about the prizes! We are encouraging each student to sell at least 10 or more items. The deadline for our fundraiser is Friday, April 6. The fundraising website is  Please contact the school or any PTO officer if you have any questions.  Thank you for your support!

Parents please remember that if you ever have any questions or concerns regarding school matters, you may contact the school by calling the school office, emailing your child’s teacher, or by sending a note with your child.  Also, please check folders and return them each day so that you are always informed. Watch for notes to come about our Read To Be Ready program.
