Students, faculty, and staff enjoyed our monthly celebration assembly on Friday.  Congratulations to Mrs. Janice Whitman’s second grade class for having perfect attendance everyday last week!  This makes three weeks in a row for that class...wow!  Students that have had perfect attendance since January were recognized.  Even with all the sickness that has been going around, we still had so many to celebrate with perfect attendance.  Congratulations to Amy Frye for being chosen as our Staff Spotlight for the month of February.  She was selected by the faculty and staff of West.  The classrooms with rockin cafeteria behavior last week were Mrs. Beth’s kindergarten class,  Ms. Lisa’s first grade class,  Mrs. Kelly’s second grade class, and  Mrs. Cloud’s third grade class.  These boys and girls were chosen for Students of the Month for the month of February: Mason Cooper, Karsyn Reynolds, Blakelyn Vasquez, Shelbie Cross, Braylon Johnson, Haven Benfield, Brett Miller, Carter Kiestler, Caylee Austin, Lizzie Corona, Katori Moore, Reece Collins, Briley Carnell, Lillie Swope, Addy Parker, and Abbie Neely.  We would like to give a shout out to Aiden Seaton and Lydia Elliot.  Aiden dressed up and spoke to the school about George Washington and Lydia played us a song on her violin.  We have some great talent here at West!  Way to go, boys and girls!  Keep rockin!

Unfortunately, our Night at the Museum was postponed last week due to road flooding.  We have rescheduled for Thursday night, March 8th, at 6:00.  Our school will be transformed into a museum, coming alive with living historical figures!  Our second and third grade students have been working hard writing biographies and making costumes to teach us more about historical figures, including some of our Presidents and famous Tennesseans.  Kindergarten and first grade students will be performing songs before exploring the museum.  Come join us for a fun night of learning and support our students!

Read Across America is coming up soon and the library will be celebrating!  If you are interested in coming as a guest reader in the library, please contact Mrs. Emily Brown.  Also, Kindergarten and first grade students will celebrate the week of March 5th by having special dress up days to go along with a special Dr. Seuss book.  The schedule for that is as follows: Monday, March 5th - Fox In Socks (wear silly socks/mismatched shoes); Tuesday, March 6th - The Lorax (wear a mustache); Wednesday, March 7th - Wacky Wednesday (dress wacky, have wacky hair, etc.); Thursday, March 8th - Green Eggs and Ham (wear green); Friday, March 9th - Cat in the Hat (hat day).

Mrs. Carrie’s guidance classes are working on giving compliments.  Second and third graders are even having a compliment challenge.  So boys and girls...be a friend and give lots of compliments!  Parents, watch for notes to come about our Read To Be Ready program.  We are SO excited about receiving this grant so that we can invite children to be a part of this wonderful summer reading program!  Remember...Everyday at West is “rocking” because our faculty, staff, and students strive to be Respectful, Orderly, Cooperative, and Kind!
