West Chester Elementary News    By: Emily Brown

Congratulations again to Mrs. Janice Whitman’s second grade class for having perfect attendance every day last week!  This makes two weeks in a row!  The classrooms with rockin' cafeteria behavior last week were Mrs. Misty Hall’s kindergarten class,  Mrs. Heather Melton’s first grade class,  Mrs. Janice Whitman’s second grade class, and  Mrs. Abbie Brown’s third grade class.  These boys and girls were chosen last week for rockin’ behavior:  Levi Harris, Bentley Butler, Peyton McDaniel, Nevaeh Taylor, Braylon Johnson, Lucas Smith, Journie Hollingsworth, Callie Harvey, Graham Bickings, Brycen Faulkner, Katori Moore, Noah Webb, Phillip Bell, Hallie Lazar, Braelyn Hensley, and Angelina Finchum.  Way to go, boys and girls!  Keep rockin!

Don’t forget to send in your Box Tops for Education!  The last day for submission this year is THIS FRIDAY,  the 23rd!  This is FREE money for our school!  Please glue or tape them on the collections sheets that were sent home.  If you need more, they are available in the library.  You may also send them in a Ziploc bag.  Please include teacher’s name, child’s name, and the number you are sending.  (Please try to send in 50 per bag.)  All bonus tops must be submitted separately, so just clip them on.

This Thursday night, the 22nd, at 6:00 our school will be transformed into a museum, coming alive with living historical figures!  That’s right...It’s our Family Engagement Night at the Museum!  Our second and third grade students have been working hard writing biographies and making costumes to teach us more about historical figures, including some of our Presidents and famous Tennesseans.  Kindergarten and first grade students will be performing songs before exploring the museum.  Come join us for a fun night of learning and support our students!

Read Across America is coming up soon and the library will be celebrating!  If you are interested in coming as a guest reader in the library, please contact Mrs. Emily Brown.  Also, Kindergarten and first grade students will celebrate the week of March 5th by having special dress up days to go along with a special Dr. Seuss book.  The schedule for that is as follows: Monday, March 5th - Fox In Socks (wear silly socks/mismatched shoes); Tuesday, March 6th - The Lorax (wear a mustache); Wednesday, March 7th - Wacky Wednesday (dress wacky, have wacky hair, etc.); Thursday, March 8th - Green Eggs and Ham (wear green); Friday, March 9th - Cat in the Hat (hat day).

Parents, watch for notes about our Read To Be Ready program.  We are SO excited about receiving this grant so that we can invite children to be a part of this wonderful summer reading program!  Remember...Everyday at West is “rocking” because our faculty, staff, and students strive to be Respectful, Orderly, Cooperative, and Kind!
