Our Night at the Museum was a HUGE success! Our school was transformed into a museum, coming alive with living historical figures. Our second and third grade students worked very hard writing biographies and making costumes to teach us more about historical figures, including some of our Presidents and famous Tennesseans. Kindergarten and first grade students performed songs before exploring the museum. It was a fun night of learning with a big crowd! Thank you so much to our students, families, and faculty and staff that made this night possible!

Our library classes had several guest readers last week while celebrating Read Across America. Thank you to the following individuals for visiting our library and reading to our students: Amy Wooley, Janice Armour, Heather Griffin, Belinda Anderson, Candi Cupples, Amy Eads, Troy Kilzer, Nancy Canada, Alex Beene, Melissa Judd, Tommie Kirk, Jason Shelton, Randle Fenimore, and Sarah Hibbett. Several classrooms had visitors as well. Mrs. Amanda’s class enjoyed books read by Hillary Gildea, Brinkley Hall’s mom, and Christina Nelson, Luke’s mom. Mrs. Crystal’s class enjoyed a story read by author, Natalie Wade. Ms. Rebecca's class also had special readers. Sunny Hughes, Logan Hughes' mother, came to read a pop up version of "Oh the Places You'll Go!". Our principal, Amy Wooley, came to read to the class, but instead she had the students read the book "Nope!" to her. Candi Cupples, one of our interventionist, came and read "If I Built A Car". Mrs. Mary Beth’s class enjoyed several of the previously mentioned readers, along with Sara Beth’s mom, Lisa Hardison, Andrea Bell, mom of Matthew, Jessica Harris, mom of Jaelyn, and Blake Garner. We thank each of you for your time and investment in the future readers of America!

Our P.E. classes had a visit from the Freed-Hardeman School of Nursing last week. They had a Health Fair during P.E. classes and learned about a variety of health topics. Thank you so much to Mrs. Linda Hodges and her nursing students for coming to speak with our students!

Congratulations to these boys and girls for receiving rocking behavior awards last week: Luke Nelson, Konnor Austein, Andrew Jacobs, Lexi Chaney, Miley Cupples, Olivia Paton, Ava Paton, Caleb Rogers, Jaelyn Dickerson, Jayden Stoltzfus, Cooper Cupples, Kylian Thaxter, Jacks Hatch, Hallie Lazar, Logan Hopkins, and Isaiah Snyder. Rocking behavior in the cafeteria for this week includes these classes: Mrs. Amanda’s kindergarten class, Mrs. Susan’s first grade, Mrs. Kelly’s second grade, and Mrs. Cloud’s third grade. Also, a big congratulations goes to Mrs. Misty Hall’s kindergarten class for having perfect attendance each day last week!.

Parents please remember that if you ever have any questions or concerns regarding school matters, you may contact the school by calling the school office, emailing your child’s teacher, or by sending a note with your child. Also, please check folders and return them each day so that you are always informed. Watch for notes to come about our Read To Be Ready program. We are SO excited about receiving this grant so that we can invite children to be a part of this wonderful summer reading program! Remember...Everyday at West is “rocking” because our faculty, staff, and students strive to be Respectful, Orderly, Cooperative, and Kind!
