West Chester Elementary News    By: Emily Brown

After the snow days and illnesses that have been going around, we are finally getting settled back into our school routine!  That means as parents, we also have to get back into a routine as well.  Please remember to check folders each day and have your child complete any homework that he/she may have.  Also, parents, PLEASE make sure to write your child’s name in all coats!  You may also want to write names in sweatshirts since we have quite a few of those that get misplaced.  Students were very excited to return to school and find the new Lego Land in the library!  They are all looking forward to creating and designing things using our Lego Unlock Your Imagination idea books. If you have any Legos that you would like to donate, please get those to the library.

Thanks to those who came out and supported our Lifeline Blood Drive last week.  The drive was originally scheduled to the week prior; however, it was changed due to the weather.  Mrs. Misty Hall’s kindergarten class had the most representation, so they received a pizza party!  The students that had representatives giving blood were put into a drawing for a $15 Wal-Mart gift card.  The winners were Brayden White, Holt Burkhead, and Carter Seaton.

Our Reading for Education fundraiser started this week!  Remember to write those addresses down and return booklets as soon as possible.  That’s all you have to do!  No door to door selling, no money collection or delivery of products.  This is FREE money for our school!  Prizes will be given to those who return COMPLETED booklets.

We would like to say a HUGE congratulations to West Chester’s own Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Becky Hartle!  Not only was Mrs. Becky chosen here at West, but she was then selected as the district wide PK-4th winner!  She will now move on to the next level of competition.  We are so proud of Mrs. Becky and wish her the best!

As always, please don’t forget to save your Box Tops for Education!  This is FREE money for our school!  Please glue or tape them on the collections sheets that were sent home.  If you need more, they are available in the library.  You may also send them in a Ziploc bag.  Please include teacher’s name, child’s name, and the number you are sending.  (Please try to send in 50 per bag.)  All bonus tops must be submitted separately, so just clip them on.

Please watch for notes coming home soon about our upcoming Living Museum Parent Involvement which will be Thursday, the 22nd.  Remember that all schools will be having Parent Teacher Conferences tonight (Thursday) from 5-8 p.m. and Friday from 9-12.  If you are unable to attend, please let your child’s teacher know so she can set up a phone conference.  We hope to connect with all of our families.  School will be dismissed this Friday for conferences and also Monday, the 19th for President’s Day.                 Remember...Everyday at West is “rocking” because our faculty, staff, and students strive to be Respectful, Orderly, Cooperative, and Kind!
